Lot Essay

A lawyer by profession, Pierre-Paul Roger-Collard (1763-1845) played a minor rçole in the Revolution. In 1797, after the Terror, he was elected to the Conseil des Cinq-Cents but the coup which installed Bonaparte to power turned him into a Royalist. Entering University in 1809 Roger-Collard created a new school of philosophy, L'ecole doctrinaire. On the return of the Bourbons to the throne he was made a minister of Education. His parliamentary career ended in 1842.
