A similar composition traditionally identified as Cerquozzi is in the Bayerisches Staatsgemäldesammlung, Munich. The attribution to Jan Miel was first suggested by Busiri Vici in 1958, and the composition has been dated to the artist's early career by Thomas Kren (cf. T. Kren, Ph.D Dissertation, Yale University, Jan Miel, A Flemish Painter in Rome, 1978, II, pp. 24-35)
