Dabos was a student of Vincent. He exhibited in the Exposition de la Jeunesse in 1788 and 1789 and regularly at the Salon from 1791 to 1835.
Maria Luisa was the wife of King Carlos IV of Spain. The couple was best known as patrons of the arts and by the many official portraits painted of them by Goya. Born in Parma in 1751, Maria Luisa married her cousin Charles de Bourbon in 1765. He became King of Spain in 1789 but abdicated in 1808 in favor of his son, the future Ferdinand VII. The couple left Spain for France where they resided in Compiègne. Maria Luisa died in Rome in 1819
