Funk, a poet and an illustrator of poetical works, was employed by Underwood & Underwood as an advertising photographer in the 1930s, he then became art editor of The Country Gentleman from 1940 to 1955 and The Furrow from 1955 to 1962. His work appeared several times in U.S. Camera 1936 and 1937.
