In the pre-war era of Osaka, Kawasaki was one of the leading forces in artistic photography. He was an early member of the important Tanpei Shashin Club and a close associate of the legendary Nakaji Yasui. He was also an editor of the important publication Hikari. His role as leader of the Kansai Photo Society and in the greater photography community brought him many followers.
Kawasaki's work is included in the collection of Osaka Municipal Museum of Art.
This is one of only two known vintage prints of this image. It was included in Hikari, one of the seminal books of modern photographs of the pre-war era. Published in 1940, Hikari brought together the best work of the group Tanpei Shashin from the 1930s.
