Takada began working in photography in 1907. By 1914 he was judging photographic contests and was one of the most prominent photographic exhibitors of the pre-war period and was published widely. By the mid- twenties his work showed strong cubist tendencies. Like most of his contemporaries, all of his pre-war work was destroyed during the war. From 1947-1950 he completed an entirely new body of work centered on the female form which stands as a precursor to much of Japan's post-war photography.

Takada's work is included in the collection of the Yokohama (Minicipal) Museum of Art.
