AN IMPORTANT COLLECTION OF FINEST AND RAREST BURGUNDY Christie's is honored to offer this distinguished grouping of wine, recently removed by our staff from the country home of a prominent collector on the east coast. Prior to this, the wines had been meticulously stored for over twenty-five years in a humid underground cellar which maintains a constant temperature of 50-52°. Owing to their ideal storage history, the wines are all in remarkable condition for age, presenting burgundy aficionados with an unusual opportunity.
Romanée-Conti--Vintage 1934

Details
Romanée-Conti--Vintage 1934
Côte de Nuits, Villaine & Chambon
All of remarkable general appearance, with high levels, deep color,
and excellent labels

The 1934 vintage in Burgundy was marked by near-perfect growing conditions. The resulting wines were ripe and immediately popular. Though many of the '34s are now fully mature, carefully cellared bottles such as these should still be lively and quite sound. It should also be noted that during this period the vines at Romanée-Conti were still ungrafted.
