Details
Château Lafite--Vintage 1953
Pauillac, 1er cru classé.
Top-shoulder levels; one label with small tear
"Throughout the 1980s surprisingly deep (for vintage and for age)
with a lively appearance. Consistently lovely bouquet that opens
up fragrantly, fully evolved after 30 minutes in glass but
holding well thereafter: cedar, sometimes very slightly
chocolaty, delicate. Gentle sweetness on the palate also constantly
noted: ideal weight and balance, lovely flavour, charm, length.
Simply perfect. Last tasted Aug 1989. Five stars. Despite its
delicacy, will survive, like the 1875." JMB
