A PINE AND MAPLE SPINNING WHEEL
Probably Pennsylvania, 19th century
The spinning wheel with molded and grooved wheel centering eight turned spindles with baluster and ring turned wheel supports with carved and notched bands above a slanted rectangular table chip-carved along two edges and paint-decorated with green and red dots, the table headed by a paint-decorated ring and baluster-turned distaff, the whole centering a turned, carved, and similarly painted flyer and bobbin mechanism on three baluster-turned legs with a molded and grooved runner and a baluster-turned handle; together with a hayfork with rounded rectangular stem continuing to a red-painted shaft bearing the number "1996" in white paint issuing four pointed rectangular tines
