A SLIP-DECORATED REDWARE "MERCER" TILE
Moravian Tileworks, Doylestown, Pennsylvania, 1898-circa 1915
Rectangular with molded and raised decoration consisting of a pair of stylized tulips above tulip and heart flanked by flower pots issuing flowers and leaves in turn flanked by rope-twist columns over banded inscription "NICHT GERICHT [?] WERT" above a cartouche with "SF" flanked by stylized tulips, the surface covered in yellow slip and daubs of green glaze; backed with layer of cement
10½in. high, 7¾in. wide, 1in. deep
