The bulbous and steepled finials above blocked plinths over a rectangular case with a pointed pediment fitted with a paned door with a reverse transfer-printed image of buildings in landscape inscribed, "MCLEAN ASYLUM, SOMERVILLE, MASS." opening to a white-painted dial-face with Roman chapter rings, on rectangular base, the interior pasted with operating instructions inscribed, "WM. L. GILBERT & CO./WINCHESTER CONN"
