The lamp with a channelled shape well engraved "1836 GEOR GRO" with interlacing design, with conforming hinged lid and shaped handle with shaped hanging spike attached through the grommet and open heart terminal resting on a red and black painted turned stand on three scroll feet

Lot Essay

A brass oil lamp signed by Jacob Lang of Rapho Township, Lancaster, County, in 1846 with stylized rooster finial but lacking the decoratively molded handle, hanging spike and shaped sides of the lamp shown here is illustrated in Garvan, fig. 53, p.119.
