A PAIR OF INLAID IRON VASES
MEIJI PERIOD (LATE 19TH CENTURY), SIGNED NIHON KOKU NISHIGYO JU KOMAI SEI

Each eight-lobed ovoid vase inlaid in gold and silver with slender rectangular panels of landscapes, birds and flowers, floral and geometric medallions and interlocking patterned reserves bordered by raised silver, the domed foot and waisted neck decorated with trailing grape vines with broad gilt leaves and silver fruits, the galleried rim inlaid with a band of gilt fretwork between silver borders, signed on each side in a silver-ringed roundel- 12 in.
