The rectangular panel inlaid in ivory, mother of pearl, red, gold and black lacquer on a greyish ground with a hanging basket of flowers in the form of a phoenix boat, two ivory birds and a smaller dragon-urn in the lower left, the panel bordered by a red and black lacquer rim carved with leaves, the reverse of the panel inlaid with a single bird and a stand of flowers and grasses on a black lacquer ground, the frame of the removable panel also black and red lacquer carved with stylized dragons and clouds, the feet and base carved with further clouds- 57 1/4 x 48 in. (145.4 x 122 cm.), losses and restoration
