A MATCHING PAINT DECORATED SPINNING WHEEL AND YARN WINDER
Pennsylvania, 19th century
The spinning wheel: with red-painted fly-wheel centering twelve turned spokes above two black painted reel, ring and ball-turned supports over a slanted trapezoidal table with sawtooth, notched and molded edges fitted with ball and reel-turned supports centering a bobbin mechanism, the table fitted with a reel and columnar, turned support with red-painted pointed distaff, all on three black-painted ring, reel and swell-turned legs, two legs joined by a treadle; the yarn winder with black-painted boxed support with chamferred top and sawtooth edging housing a counting mechanism, the exterior with inscribed circular dial and painted sheet metal hand fitted with a red-painted turned six-arm winding wheel above a rectangular plinth with sawtooth and molded edges on four turned and splayed legs; both with linear detailing in yellow
