Depicting Ceres, the goddess holding sheaf of wheat in a chariot decorated with cornucopias, leafy swags, laurel boughs and griffin head at rear, driven by two bulls each wearing floral garland, supported by rectangular base with bands of anthemion to sides and etched diamond pattern on top, the wheel of the chariot forming the dial of the clock, white enamel arabic chapter ring enclosing leafy spokes and blued steel spade hands, the three train movement rack striking the hours and quarters on two bells, c.1810--18½in.
