A SOUTH AMERICAN SILVER ALMS DISH

The deep circular dish on four claw-and-ball feet and with scalloped rim, the border engraved with foliate scrolls on a matted ground, applied with two figures kneeling in prayer, the domed center with similar decoration and set with the Virgin and supported by an angel, flanked by an archway supported by similar angels, elaborately repousee and chased with semi-clad male figures below caryatids amid foliate scrolls, applied with two scrolls supporting bells and surmounted by birds, with a bird in flight above, the reverse with similarly decorated handle, apparently unmarked--12 3/4in. (32.3cm.) high
