HAMBURG, MID-17TH CENTURY, MAKER'S MARK OF CLAUSS SULSSEN II

Of cylindrical form, the spreading rim foot chased with a band of foliate scrolls and flowerheads, the body chased with fruit and foliate vines enclosing three oval cartouches with figures of a fashionable lady and two men within landscapes, with tubular scroll handle, the hinged domed cover with bifurcated scroll thumbpiece and chased with similar foliate bands, surmounted by an openwork multi-scroll finial, marked under base--10 1/2in. (26.2cm.) high
