Lot Essay

The crests and coronet are those of De Vahl and Samuel, borne by Dennis Samuel, formerly of Rio de Janeiro, a prosperous merchant living in Dublin. In 1844 he was created an officer of the rose by Don Pedro II, the Emperor of Brazil.
