Of baluster form on a spreading circular foot chased with a band of gadrooning, with fluted scroll spout and wood scroll handle, the domed cover with similar decoration and urn-form finial, one side engraved with a fully-rigged vessel flying the British ensign, the other with a monogram JAN, the base inscribed The Gift of the Owners of the Cumberland to Mrs. Nicholson, 1783, marked under base--12 1/4in. (31cm.) high
