Lot Essay

The crests are those of Montefiore and Goldsmid, as borne by Nathaniel Montefiore, born in 1819, nephew of Sir Moses Montefiore, the celebrated philanthropist. He married Emma, daughter of Isaac Lyon Goldsmid.
