Lot Essay

Although Ethel Mars moved to Provincetown in 1915, her experiments in color woodblock printing were already well developed by the time the print in this lot was made in 1907. A friend of Edna Boies Hopkins, Gertrude Stein, Mildred McMillen, Ada Gilmore and Maud Hunt Squire, she lived in Paris from 1906-1913. Her prints are rare.
