A DUTCH SILVER CLARET JUG, 1831, inverted ovoid with slightly waisted neck, on raised circular base below fluted knop, the body chased with tied foliate festoons centering three times applied bead enclosed, ribbon tied, oval cartouche two with portrait bust, one with covered urn, the neck similarly decorated, with applied reeded rim, wood loop handle, with detachable cover topped by lion couchant--12¼in. (31.1cm.) high, gross weight 27oz.
