A GROUP OF FOUR SILVER SNUFF BOXES, comprising: the first English--Birmingham, 1788, maker's mark of Samuel Pemberton, rectangular with canted corners, the sides and base bright cut engraved with paterae, the hinged cover monogrammed, the ends bright cut engraved with foliate festoon, all on engraved slender reed and dotted ground--2¾in. (6.9cm.) long, the second, French--1840-1879, shaped rectangular with engine turned base, the hinged cover engine turned within undulating scrolls, the inside corners engraved with flowers, the center with vacant asymmetrical cartouche, the sides of the base and cover with concave stylized arrows at intervals--3½in. (8.8cm.) long, the third--Austrian, 20th Century, the last--unmarked, rectangular, engine turned, the hinged cover inset with ?gold coin--3in. (7.6cm.) long, 8.5oz. (4)
