A PAIR OF VIENNA STYLE BLUE AND GOLD GROUND VASES AND STANDS, AND TWO COVERS
late 19th century, blue beehive marks to vases and stands, one signed Wilh. Rohl.
Each shield-shaped vase with bracket handles, the neck and foot richly gilt with foliate scrolls and quatrefoil panels, the body finely painted with mythological scenes, one with Jupiter's goat, Amalthea and with The Toilette of Venus, the other with The Birth of Paris and The Judgement of Paris, each scene flanked by gilt panels chased with urns and strapwork, the square stand with oval panels of figures at various pursuits among clouds and chased quatrefoil panels reserved on the blue ground richly gilt with foliate scrolls ensuite with the neck; together with two slightly domed covers gilt with variant foliate scroll borders
