A GEORGE III SILVER HOT WATER JUG, London, 1767, maker's mark of David Whyte & William Holmes, (see Grimwade, Unregistered Marks, no. 3526), baluster on short circular foot, the front engraved with coat of arms within foliate, scroll and floral surround, with applied gadrooned rims, the partly reeded squat spout applied with graduated beads ending in scrolls, partly reeded scroll handle, the hinged molded domed cover chased with fluted calyx below flame form finial--11¼in. (28.5cm.) high, gross weight 22oz.
