A GEORGE III IRISH SILVER CAKE BASKET, Dublin, third quarter 18th Century, maker's mark of Charles Mullin, shaped oval, on short spreading oval foot pierced with panels of lozenges, circles and quatrefoils, the solid center engraved with two crests and motto within scalework cartouche, the sides pierced and openwork with panels of scalework, quatrefoils and stars, stars, stylized flowerheads and foliate scrolls, with alternately beaded and plain spur form dividers, with applied gadrooned rim, with openwork interlaced oval overhead swing handle (losses to one panel)--13½in. (34.2cm.) long, 28oz.
