A VICTORIAN SCOTTISH SILVER CLARET JUG, Edinburgh, 1869, stamped MACKAY, vase shaped on raised circular foliate engraved foot, the body and foot with stippled ground, the mid section engraved with four engraved circles containing: presentation inscription dated 1870; crest and motto; monogram; and one with Edinburgh Water Co., crest, each divided by stiff leaf enclosed waisted panel of paterae and foliage, the shoulder with ribbon tied repousse fruit swags, the waisted neck with plain flat flutes below scrolling ivy, the part foliate C scroll handle with bifurcated join, the hinged sloping part engraved cover covering spout and topped by applied shell--14¾in.
