See Joan Jones, Minton: The First Two Hundred Years of Design & Production, Shrewsbury, 1993, pp. 86, 278 for two Minton examples of the same form, shape number 469. See also p. 203 for a vase decorated by Louis Solon with a similar pâte-sur-pâte maiden and an in-depth discussion of this techinique.

Beginning in March 1878, Solon entered into a 10 year agreement with the Minton factory to serve as designer and modeller for the pâte-sur-pâte process. Although this piece is unmarked, it is most certainly a production of this period.
