Lot Essay

Born in Kenya, Glen was apprenticed to the taxidermy studio of Coloman Jonas in Denver, Colorado at the age of sixteen. In the late 1960s, Glen conducted expeditions into the African bush on behalf of American, Canadian and European natural history museums. In 1970, he began working on a lifelong dream--to model in bronze the wildlife of Africa, concentrating first on the larger species found in his homeland of East Africa. The present model is from this series.
