Captain John Romer (1764-1855) was the son of Jacob, one of the captors of the British agent Major Andre in 1780. John Romer served in the militia during the Revolution and was a captain in the War of 1812. He was a member of Solomon's Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons in Mount Pleasant, New York, and remained an active member during his lifetime. His gravestone is decorated with fraternal emblems.
