Worked in polychrome silk threads on a linen ground with a house surmounted by a flag on a hillock above a house perched beside a river with a sailboat, a rowboat and a group of ducks, and a bridge running beside a landscape depicting a farmer and cows beneath a group of trees above the inscription "Wrought by Martha D. Ball" (some loss to linen)--14 1/4 x 12 1/8in.

The scene is probably a view of Mount Vernon and the Potomac River.
Martha Dandridge Ball is the granddaughter of Charles Washington, the brother of George.
