Lawrence Langworthy is recorded to have worked in Newport as a pewter, brass and iron founder from 1731 until 1739. He was admitted a freeman of the town in 1735. A virtually identical posnet in the Winterthur Collection is illustrated in Herbert, Peter and Nancy Schiffer, The Brass Book (Exton, PA, 1978), p. 335 and in Richard Barons, The American Hearth (Binghamton, NY, 1976), entry 74.
