In four sections: the uppermost part a rectangular molded cornice; the second part a conforming case fitted with a pair of
Gothic glazed cupboard doors enclosing a shelf; the third part a conforming case fitted with a pair of crossbanded and line-inlaid short drawers; the lowest part with crossbanded cylinder lid opening to an interior fitted with eight valanced pigeonholes over six short drawers and a leather-lined writing slide above a pair of cockbeaded crossbanded and line-inlaid short drawers and two long drawers flanked by panels of bird's eye maple, on turned tapering reeded legs with turned feet (later top to cornice, minor losses to inlay); together with an early 19th century watercolor drawing on paper illustrating the desk-and-bookcase in an interior--75in. high, 38 1/4in. wide, 22in. deep; the drawing 9 1/2 x 11 1/2in.
