Of oval section designed in takamaki-e, hiramaki-e, and togidashi on a roiro ground with a rooster amidst flowering grasses, the reverse with a hen and two chicks, the cord runners, top and bottom decorated with geometric patterns in kirigane and inlaid aogai, interior cases red lacquer, the risers designed in gold togidashi with a key-fret motif; fitted with an ivory ojime carved as a dog chewing a sandal and an ivory egg-shaped netsuke inscised with scrolling leaves
