edo period (circa 1800), signed hanagawa hokugyoku saku and with kakihan
The long, cylindrical writing brush case lacquered in gold, silver and brown takamaki-e, hiramaki-e and gold foil with accents of red lacquer with six actors performing three Kyogen plays, including Suehirogari, the ground of the case brownish-black lacquer and mura-nashiji and the ends mounted in soft-metal cast with foliate scroll; the ink well located in the hinged lid of the case now mising, silver plug for suspension on side
