A LACQUER MIRROR STAND (KYODAI)

Constructed on a large square chest with two rectangular drawers supporting a detachable mirror stand which fits into two slots on the top of the drawer chest, lacquered overall in hiramaki-e and nashiji with pines overgrown with flowering wisteria on a roiro-nuri ground, the mirror stand inset at the middle-top and bottom with two paulownia crests of gilded metal and fitted with gilded metal terminals engraved with foliate scroll, the drawer pulls also gilt-copper engraved with additional paulownia crests; the large bronze mirror cast with auspicious cranes, a minogame, pines, bamboo and other plants enclosed in a worn black lacquer case
