(10 11/16 x 8 5/8 x 2in.), edition binding of reddish brown crushed levant morocco, covers gilt-panelled with inlaid dark brown morocco Greek key border and intertwining gilt vine, in the center of the upper cover an inset plaque of silvered metal hammered in relief (after the title vignette), by Denis Puech, signed and dated 1906, spine in five gilt-panelled compartments, three with similar mosaic and gilt design, two gilt-lettered, turn-ins with inlaid dark brown morocco and gilt borders, multi-colored silk doublures and liners, t.e.g., others gilt on the rough, original printed wrappers with backstrip preserved, gilt-stamped on upper turn-in: "Ch. Meunier 1907", minuscule abrasions to lower board edge of upper cover, matching half mottled calf chemise and morocco-edged slipcase (slightly rubbed). LIMITED EDITION, NO. 8 OF 12 COPIES ON JAPON IMPÉRIAL IN THIS SPECIAL BINDING, WITH AN ORIGINAL SIGNED CHARCOAL DRAWING BY FANTIN-LATOUR AND TWO EXTRA SUITES OF THE PLATES, PRINTED ON TISSUE AND IN SANGUINE ON CHINA PAPER, BOTH WITH REMARQUES, the extra suites of the vignettes on the same papers, the second in bistre, this copy for Madame Hugo Finaly, from the edition of 177 copies, frontispiece and 11 plates of chalk lithographs by Fantin-Latour, lithograph title vignette and head- and tail-piece vignettes by G. Simoes da Fonseca, 4-page prospectus with facsimile bound in at end.
