A CLOISONNE ENAMEL VASE
meiji period (late 19th century), signed dai nihon hayashi saku and with diamond stamp [hayashi kodenji]
Of ovoid form rising from a raised, cylindrical foot to the recessed, cylindrical neck and ending at the galleried rim, decorated in colored enamels on a midnight blue ground with stands of chrysanthemums, bellflowers, daisies and marigolds and rocks on either side of a flowing stream, the neck and foot both enamelled with green and white florets and wire vines on a black enamel ground, the neck also encircled by a collar of shaped floral reserves and the area above the foot with a band of floral lappets, mounted in silver and fitted with a silver cover cast as a reticulated chrysanthemum floret with bud-form knop
