A PAIR OF JICHIMU AND NANMU TAPERED CABINETS, YUANJIAOGUI
17th Century
The protruding top with round corners and supported on generously splayed square-section corner posts with double ribbing to form a "melon" section, enclosing the single panels of the pair of framed doors opening from the removable central stile, all above a plain panel enclosed by a frame and a plain beaded apron, the frame members carved with double ribbing similar to the corner posts, the lacquered interior fitted with two shelves, the lower with a pair of drawers, with baitong fittings, the feathered jichimu frames subtly contrasting with the nanmu panels and sides
