A SILVER COMPOTE CENTERPIECE, maker's mark of Gorham, 1871, no. 910, the spreading circular frosted base applied with beaded band below bright cut flowering foliate band, rising to tapering cylindrical stem with urn form knop applied two sides with stylized lion's mask issuing leaf and headed by openwork foliate coiled scroll centering paterae, the exterior of the shallow circular bowl engraved 1852 Longstreet 1877, and applied with die rolled rim, the interior center with beaded and foliate engraved octafoil--10½in. (26.6cm.) high, 29.5oz.
