A RARE RED OVERLAY GLASS JAR
Qianlong Incised and Gilt Four-Character Mark and of the Period
With high, rounded shoulders, spreading foot and straight neck, carved in relief through a layer of dark ruby red to a snowstorm ground with four panels containing seasonal scenes, one with a pair of ducks amid lotus and other plants, the second with a phoenix and peony, the third with a pair of birds and prunus branches, the last with three birds amid flowering chrysanthemum and bamboo, the panels divided by lingzhi scrolls, all between upright lappets at the base and cloud collars at the shoulder, the neck with a further band of lappets
