This tsuba is a mixture of several styles. Shoami workmanship is the most obvious but the influence of both the Umetada school and the Nara school is also evident.

A SHOAMI SCHOOL TSUBA
MOMOYAMA PERIOD (CIRCA 1600)
The elongated four-lobed brass plate is dished from the edge to the center of the plate. It has four pierced flower-forms and is decorated in inlaid gold, silver and shakudo with sprays of plum blossom. The reverse is similarly decorated--height 7.8cm., width 6.7cm., thickness at center 3.25mm., at edge 6.5mm.
