The oval iron plate has a flowerhead rim which encloses a pierced design of fans, birds, ginger flowers, and tea whisks. The surface of both sides is decorated details carved in fine lines--height 7.8cm., width 7.5cm., thickness 5.5mm.

Lot Essay

Akasaka Tadashige (1730-1816) was a student of Akasaka Tadamune (Tadatoki I, 1707-circa 1750). This example is closer to the later Owari school than it is to the Akasaka.
