A SENDAI SADAMASA SCHOOL TSUBA
EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1800), SIGNED SADAMASA AND KAO

The oval brass plate is slightly dished from the center to the seppa-dai area. It is carved and inlaid with shakudo, gold, silver, and copper, and depicts two fans and a rat nibbling the cords of one. A willow tree is carved on the reverse--height 6.7cm., width 6.4cm., thickness 5.5mm.
