Shimamura Mitsuyoshi (fl. 1850/80) was a student of Hata Nobuyoshi (1807-1878). Very little is known about his life.

MEIJI ERA (CIRCA 1875), SIGNED SHOTOKEN MITSUYOSHI
The rounded shibuichi plate has a slightly raised rim and a polished surface. It is carved in low relief and inlaid in gold, silver, shakudo, and shibuichi with a design depicting Taishin o Fujin playing a stringed instrument while seated on a rock. A dragon listens in the water beside her. The design extends to the reverse--height 10.5cm., width 8.2cm., thickness 6mm.
