MUROMACHI PERIOD (CIRCA 1500), SIGNED KIYOMITSU
Configuration (sugata): with longitudinal ridge line (shinogi-zukuri), shallow peaked back (iori-mune) and medium point (chu-kissaki); length (nagasa): 2 shaku (60.6cm.); curvature (sori): koshi-zori of 2.4cm.; increase in width of blade (fumbari): 1.1cm.; carving (horimono): maru-dome bo-hi on both sides.
Forging pattern (jihada): very fine, dense 'pear-skin' (nashiji).
Tempering pattern (hamon): wide suguba in ko-nie.
Point (boshi): small and rounded (ko-maru).
Tang (nakago). Shape (keitai): unshortened (ubu); file marks (yasurime): slanted (katte-sagari); end (nakagojiri): kasyu; holes (mekugi-ana): one; signature (katanamei): Kiyomitsu.
Shirasaya.
Accompanied by a tokubetsu kicho token certificate issued by the N.B.T.H.K., no. 151635, Showa 43 (1968).
