Configuration (sugata): with longitudinal ridge line (shinogi-zukuri), shallow peaked back (iori-mune) and medium point (chu-kissaki); length (nagasa): 2 shaku, 1 sun, 9 bu (66.7cm.); curvature (sori): koshi-zori of 1.5cm.; increase in width of blade (fumbari): 1.2cm.; carving (horimono): bo-hi ni tsure-hi on both sides.
Forging pattern (jihada): dense and fine 'pear-skin' (nashiji).
Tempering pattern (hamon): chu-suguba in nie and ko-nie.
Point (boshi): small and rounded (ko-maru).
Tang (nakago). Shape (keitai): regular, tapering and unshortened (ubu); file marks (yasurime): slanted (katte-sagari); end (nakagojiri): iriyamagata; holes (mekugi-ana): one; signature (katanamei): Yamato Daijo Fujiwara Masanori.
Shirasaya.
Accompanied by a tokubetsu kicho token certificate issued by the N.B.T.H.K., no. 5500749, dated Showa 55 (1980); and a koshu tokubetsu kicho token certificate issued by the N.B.T.H.K., no. 19668, dated Showa 55 (1980).
