A KAGA TSUJIMURA KATANA
EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1620), SIGNED KASHU [NO] JU KANEWAKA TSUKURU
Configuration (sugata): with longitudinal ridge line (shinogi-zukuri), shallow peaked back (iori-mune) and long medium point (chu-kissaki); length (nagasa): 2 shaku, 5 sun, 4 bu (77cm.); curvature (sori): shallow koshi-zori of 1.2cm.; increase in width of blade (fumbari): 0.8cm.
Forging pattern (jihada): ko-mokume with masame in the shinogi.
Tempering pattern (hamon): o-midare in profuse nie and with extensive kinsuji.
Point (boshi): Jizo with long kaeri.
Tang (nakago). Shape (keitai): quite long, tapering only slightly and with a soft, brown patina; file marks (yasurime): o-sujikai; end (nakagojiri): very shallow and rounded (kurijiri); holes (mekugi-ana): one; signature (katanamei): Kashu [no] ju Kanewaka tsukuru.
Shirasaya with attestation signed Kunzan (Homma Junji).
Accompanied by a tokubetsu kicho token certificate issued by the N.B.T.H.K., no. 27754, dated Showa 32 (1957).
