EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1660), DAISHO SIGNED MUTSU DAIJO MIYOSHI NAGAMICHI
Dai: Configuration (sugata): with longitudinal ridge line (shinogi-zukuri), shallow peaked back (iori-mune) and medium point (chu-kissaki); length (nagasa): 2 shaku, 2 sun, 5 bu (68.4cm.); increase in width of blade (fumbari): 0.9cm.
Forging pattern (jihada): fine, compact wood grain (ko-itame).
Tempering pattern (hamon): extremely strong nie-deki gonome midare.
Point (boshi): small and rounded (ko-maru).
Tang (nakago). Shape (keitai): slender and unshortened (ubu); file marks (yasurime): new (kiri-yasuri); end (nakagojiri): rounded (kurijiri); holes (mekugi-ana): one; signature (katanamei): Mutsu Daijo Miyoshi Nagamichi.

Daisho koshirae comprising: a black lacquer saya; paired tsuka mounted with gilt menuki formed as branches of persimmon, and shibuichi fuchi-kashira decorated with designs of Chinese sages, each signed Sakai Hideyoshi (a student of Omori Teruhide), circa 1790; an iron tsuba decorated in relief with foliage, each signed Choshu Hagi [no] ju Chikanaga, circa 1800; and a shakudo nanako kozuka decorated with a flowering plant design--length of koshirae 98.9cm. and 77.8cm.; length of tsuka 23.2cm. and 18.2cm.; tsuba height 8.3cm. and 8.2cm., width 7.7cm. and 7.2cm.;
thickness 6mm. and 6mm. length of kozuka 9.9cm. Old chips and dents to the saya.
